How Our CrawlSpace Waterproofing System Insulates Your Home

Crawl spaces account for a substantial amount of heat loss in the home and often represents the primary heat loss source. Once cold air makes it into the crawl space, it is sucked through the crawl space celing and into the living space above. In an average home, 50% of the air upstairs is exchanged with the air from the crawl space. In cold weather, this can be a substantial amount of heat loss and, at today's fuel prices, represent a major source of increased heating costs.

Insulate your crawl space The Wet Basement Solutions of New Hampshire's insulating blanket is available in 5 R-value to 20 R-value (depending on your needs), won't absorb moisture, and is 100% waterproof. Waterproofing is a key factor when choosing insulation for foundation walls since for every 1% of moisture absorbed by standard insulation, the R-value is reduced by approximately 35%.

In warmer climates or during summer months, our System will also reduce energy costs. The main function of an air conditioning unit is to remove humidity (moisture) from the air. Properly sealing the crawl space will greatly reduce this moisture, making the air easier and less expensive to cool.

Our optional Heat Shield is highly recommended for colder climates. Manufactured using 99% pure radiant heat-reflecting aluminum on one side and white poly on the other, with reinforcing fiber grid sandwiched in-between, our Heat Shield will reduce heat loss through living space floors by over 50%, keeping the floors above the crawl space area warm and comfortable.
